Hidden Files Not Shown
Recently virus programmers are becoming smart. A worm w32.USBWorm which attacked and banned Orkut, has left one more problem. (Here are the steps to remove w32.USBWorm). You will not be able to see the hidden files. Even if you change the setting in the folder options, it will not show the hidden files. So here are the steps to remove that problem and make the hidden files appear as before. I got the solution from one of the comments on my previous posts.
This is where I found the solution.
UPDATE
If the virus is still present, this solution may not work permanently. Once you restart the PC, the hidden files will be concealed once again. I recommend using Avast antivirus, but remember to change security level from Medium to High after you install it.

- Go to Start --> Run, then type Regedit
- Navigate to the registry folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL - Find a key called CheckedValue.
- Double Click CheckedValue key and modify it to 1. This is to show all the hidden files.
This is where I found the solution.

now i can access orkut. but cant see hidden files.
when i tried 2 edit registry it says admin has disabled u 2 edit
what 2 do?

I have recently observed that these virus attack together, making it hard to remove all the traces.

ur bolg helped me a lot. i can access orkut and hidden files now.
but on my friends comp he could access orkut but could not edit regstry further 2 c hidden files. can u help?
n 1 more thing, on my pc der is 1 trojan bho. something. AVG heals it but it bounces back every time i open new page. can u help?

Thanks ur blog was of a great help... removed the orkut virus as well the hidden files virus.. it does work out.. my AVG as well Windows defender could not trace this

hey there.. i am having a few problems and need some feedback please.
1. "Run" is missing frm my start menu.
2. When i press Ctrl Alt Delete, a message pops up that the TAsk Manager has been disabled by the Administrator, whereas I'm the only user on my system and i hav all the administrator rights.
3. The "Folder Options" is also missing from the tools menu.
The system administrators in my college insist its a virus, but its never detected by my antivirus program (KasperSky). They insist formatting my system will remove this virus. Could u suggest me what i shud do?
Thanks everyone for your feedbacks. Some viruses and trojans make way for other viruses. So it is very difficult to delete all those at a time. You have to perform THOROUGH scan with HIGH level of detection on ALL FILES, INCLUDING HIDDEN FILES.
Avast is my choice when it comes to Antivirus
