What do you think of yourselves, MindTree Minds?
They were humble, elegant and more social than they are now. They had never shown this frog-in-the-well attitude until that fateful (?) day they got recruited to an Indian multinational company called MindTree. I'm talking about my own classmates and friends who got entitled MindTree Minds when they got selected.
I have been observing this attitude not only in my classmates, but also in friends in other colleges and juniors too. There are a few exceptions, nevertheless. But I stress, only a few are still the same as they were before. What makes me post it here? Because the so called MindTree Minds:
Your honest opinions are welcome.

- act as if MindTree is the only IT company in the world.
- don't generally combine with people other than MindTree recruitees as they used to be.
- show off that they are recruited to MindTree.
- talk about the company all the time.
- think that they are superior to others, while the truth is that some of them got selected by sheer luck.
Your honest opinions are welcome.

Ha ha ha....
Could not help but laughing.
Even my class mates used to do this.
By the Way, I work for Mindtree(since 2005).
Mr. Harish, your 'virus removal tips' helped me a lot. Thanks a ton dude.
Harish, what you notice is just people who have something in common trying to bond. Look aroud, it happens with people from same school, same locality, speaking same language, same country....
It's definitely clear that they are proud that they are part of MindTree. Did you try talking to them about this issue before you published this blog?
And here is a honest invitation to welcome you and experience and be part of what we do

Your truly,
A MindTree Mind
(since 2000)
Not just mind tree employees.. most of them who gets recruited have this kind of attitude.. quite a few are exceptional. one thing even i have noticed people who gets recrited in mind tree do a little more show off than others..
Thanks Sameer, Deepika & Anonymous for your feedbacks. I do have my respect about the company and it's professionals.
@Sameer: It's great to know that you are a Mindtree mind and I appreciate your support for my word.
@Anonymous: Hi, thank you very much for your thought provoking feedback. But I want to make some points cleared:
> what you notice is just people who have something in common trying to bond.
It's really great if they are creating a bond between themselves. But it can be done without hurting or breaking bond with others. They don't have to consider others to be inferior to them to create a bond.
> It's definitely clear that they are proud that they are part of MindTree.
Absolutely, and they have to be. Even I am proud of being selected to my company. But, IMHO, there is no need to flaunt about it.
> Did you try talking to them about this issue before you published this blog?
I certainly did. Some of them agree and some are reluctant to admit it.
@Deepika: I concur with you :)
according to me all r equal in this world.. what ever the behave u show to others that will reflect ur attitude in front of others.... so think and behave...

Ya what u said is not applicable to all mindtree people.But i have seen this kind of attitude especially in mindtree minds.Hope u could write this before ......
@Prakash & Avinash: Thanks for your valuable comments...
Prakash, surely we have to be careful while we are with others :)
@Avinash, I've mentioned that it's not the case with all Mindtree minds and there are a few exceptions..
harish, please tell me how to report a blog abuse, i hope ur next post will help me!...
Anything u said in ur post is not applicable for me...
@Pavan Kumar A R:
Thank you for comments. I really appreciate all the feedbacks.
>> please tell me how to report a blog abuse, i hope ur next post will help me!...
I can surely understand your frustration. But as a blogger, it's my duty to respond to all the comments posted on my blog.
It may be a long time before I post my next article. So, as a quick fix, here are the steps to report abuse:
1) Usually all blogspot blogs will have a navigation bar at the top.
But some blogs, such as this, will use some CSS trick and hide it. So, if you want to abuse such blogs, put
javascript:function navbar(){ document.getElementById( "navbar-iframe" ).style.display = "block"; document.getElementById( "navbar-iframe" ).style.visibility = "visible"; document.getElementById( "navbar-iframe" ).style.height = "100px";} navbar();
into the address bar and hit enter.
2) Now, click FLAG BLOG button.
Note 1: Before flagging, I recommend that you read the official blogger help page, link of which can be seen by hovering your mouse over the FLAG BLOG button.
Note 2: Banning a blog would require a lot of votes, perhaps in thousands, so you may want to invite all your friends to read the blog and flag it to report abuse.
>> Anything u said in ur post is not applicable for me...
Did I take your name anywhere? It's well and good if you think it's not applicable for you. I hope you know the famous Kannada adage: ಕುಂಬಳಕಾಯಿ ಕಳ್ಳ ಅಂದ್ರೆ...
Hi dude i would just like to say that this comment of yours on mind tree minds is only for some bunch of fools who act like as if they have got everything by getting recruited to Mindtree and start humiliating others and this has nothing to do with people who are genuinely goos at heart and who are proud to be a part of mindtree
Only this much of comments.... I expected some more than 25 for this topic... Anyhow, happy professional life Harry Potter...
Harish first i would like to say take out the name 'Mindtree'...its commen nature of man...you can't expect same attitude at all time...your words may heart some one..both luck & talent is must for some one to get in to any company..if u realy want to say tis to every one then express it generally...not with particular mindtree..
hi archana here......ha ha.. fine u ve a complaint... but i think u cant generalise things.. everyone isnt the same n placements ve no link wit friendship ....
good1 man... u knw ppl wont accept this fact.. but wat u said is absolutely true... hope they realise n come back to the track
ur blog looks very nice in chinese, check out...
Dude! was reading this post of yours. Generally it's a human tendency to show-off and let others down..
Ofcourse it does hurt other people who haven't got recruited, but with every frustration of the latter, they'll grow strong and ultimately get placed in better companies... happened with many of my friends don't worry..
Everyone has to reap the seeds they sow here itself.. :-)
Thanks Abhi for your comment :)
What you have told is absolutely correct. But it becomes our duty, as their friends, to tell them what they are doing is wrong, isn't it?
Thanks Shameem, Mallikarjun, Archana and Tabassum for your comments
Yes,absolutely correct
thats syndrome will be very shortly cured by mindt*ree
Mr harish ,Wht u say about this
ur mindtree minds article is very interesting and the fact too...... one thing i want to disclose here actually i rejected mindtree in the final interview ,r u thinking why i am telling now .... mostly u may be knowing the thing if i tell on those days others use to say that "he is not selected thats why he is telling so..."... isn't it?....
Okies... ppl. Can I have a word here? I would probably try to wipe off all the myths!
Whatever is the company you work for, take pride in what you do. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG IN IT. Actually it's the other way around. If you don't take pride in what you do, then definately you aren't enjoying what you are doing and things need to be fixed in place, at the earliest!
I would greatly appreciate all the above commentors for giving their candid opinions.
But for a moment step back and think about these points:
1. Are you enjoying your work? Is that the place you always wanted to be in?
2.Are confident enough to stand by an organization and say with pride, "I am associated with this thing simply because I firmly believe in their way of doing things?"
3. If you don't subscribe to someone else's thought process,deriding him/her (or as group)is not always the ONLY option left with you. you have all rights to differ with him/her but you have no right to ridicule their thoughts/ways of doing things. There are more graceful ways to differ with people!
4. It's good that people turn down offers at the right moment. It's in the interest of both the parties. It's better to stay out of that job, than to join it and mess up the whole eco-system!
Trust me folks. Sooner or later the reality shall dawn on you too. There is nothing like PERFECT JOB! It's all in your mind. It's how you want it to be that matters the most!!
Now this is my personal view. I hope you appreciate my stance as well!
@Sachin:
I can't talk about the work/work culture of any company. It's the employees of the concerned companies who have the right/capability to talk about that. But we surely can surely feel their agitations at times.
@Pavankumar A R:
Great! I'm happy that MindTree has achieved it.
And one more thing. You've got the answer for one of your previous doubts about number of comments ;-)
@Somashekhar:
Hmmm.... Interesting.. and it's your personal choice. But I appreciate your courage to discard the offer at that point :)
@Suresh:
What you have said is absolutely true. But one thing is confusing me.
I'm not able to find any "myths" in the comments posted. Some agreed to my point and some differed and that is out of context here. But none of them talked about enjoying the work/believing things nor did they redicule anyone.
So, it would be great if you could point out those myths which you wanted to wipe off.
@ Harish,
I hate quoting it. I can't help, but post them here:
"..one thing even i have noticed people who gets recrited in mind tree do a little more show off than others.."
>Now that for me is a myth. I have never ever done that. Nor do I beleive in it. It's just that people feel it that way. I would qualify the author's perception to myth!
"..Did you try talking to them about this issue before you published this blog?"
> This is the biggest myth that people had before (and even after they read ur article) that you actually brought the issue to the notice of the concerned, in person. I'm afraid you never did it. I can stand by the veracity of my claims made here, as I have spoken to the concerned.
I would have appreciated if you would have done it earlier, rather than voicing your concerns in public!
@Suresh:
Thanks for clarifying your views.
> Now that for me is a myth. I have never ever done that. Nor do I beleive in it. It's just that people feel it that way. I would qualify the author's perception to myth!
Hmmm, What you are considering as a myth is, actually, a naked truth.
Remember, there's no fire without smoke. When a group of people point at some and tell something is wrong, they will most probably be true. But those persons may not see it. Same is the case here. You are making fool of yourself by assuming that opinion to be a myth.
> I'm afraid you never did it.
Well, how do you say that I've not spoken to the concerned people? It's impracticable to speak to everyone of those who are concerned. I had discussed with two of our mindtree-mind friends and a lot more non-mindtree-mind friends before jotting down this article. The fact that I didn't communicate with you regarding this matter doesn't stand as a proof to say that I didn't communicate with no one else.
> I can stand by the veracity of my claims made here, as I have spoken to the concerned.
I have mentioned some characteristics of MindTree minds in my original post. However, I have never said that every MindTree mind has all of those symptoms. But it is true that most of the Mindtree minds have one or more of those features.
> I would have appreciated if you would have done it earlier, rather than voicing your concerns in public!
If someone is not ready to accept the point even after so many responses and reckons all of them to be myths, do you think giving a personal feedback would have helped?
Hi guys....
Hope everyone is working in the company with particular domain as such...some questions i need to ask u guys i don't need answer to it as such with try to question it to urself
And about Mind tree i am not commiting that the company is bad...i am mindtree is really good software firm which has its own values.
But when the students get recuited they trend to change and act as if they have achieved and gained a CEO post.In our collage many companys came no one used to make groups and discuss in groups.
Especially S***** and V****
these guys would discuss there assignments between themself and where not willing to tell others on wat they r working.
Is this u call it as Knowledge Sharing...????
And NO matter u may be selected in a company now and Earn some money for next 2 years...but u forget the classmates just that they have not campused....
One thing my frined life is like a wheel u r in upper hand now u must come back to lower end...
think for a instance ur classmate will take GRE and go u U.S and get recruited there ...unfortunately he might be ur client....now u will be working according to him....
to tell there r many things i suggest u guys to appolagize the one u have hurt knowingly and unknowingly
Be a profeesional
@ Avi,
Wooah! When did this whole discussion turn in personal? We never stopped anyone from asking us what we were working on. Did we???
On one hand ppl blame when u speak of things abt an organization. On the other hand they tend to nag when we don't speak about it.
It's never easy to impress everyone. I shall not make any such frail attempts. I don't think we need any lessons on what's sharing??
Your way of expressing views shows your professionalism. Period!
@Avi & Suresh:
This is post is intended neither to hurt anyone nor to take it personally. The views I have expressed originally are some common things which I experienced in our college and outside. It is not to connote about anyone. I apologize for anything and everything that might have hurt you.
The main goal of this post was just to show those majority mindtree minds that they are doing something which is not good, which might offend somebody else. It was ought to be taken in a sportive way and to become a platform for a healthy discussion wherein we can find a solution for this so that it won't repeat in the future, not to pick anyone to pick.
